The bombing of Brussels Central Station 2017

The bombing of Brussels Central Station 2017

It was 8:45 on the 20th of June, 2017. My sister and I were alone in our room while my mom and cousins were in my grandmother’s room, 3 floors down. The alarm started ringing. Calm and composed we grabbed our shoes and ran. In the hallway, we met another person who helped us to the correct fire exit and were soon joined by hordes of people. The alarm was so loud, my ears were ringing for a long time afterward. We went down from the 5th floor to the ground and the exit was held open by the men of the Belgium army. Man, they were equipped. With everything from Kevlar to rifle and snipers with grenades hanging from their belt with other cool items. They rushed us out and we were made to run to the town square where the Brussels police were setting up a perimeter. Everyone else was rushed out but we stayed back with the police on their command till they could find our parents and cousins. The bartender of our hotel saw us and took us to the nearby Warwick hotel.

Finally, after 20 minutes of waiting with my heart in my mouth mom came. When she saw us, she came running and even crashed into the exit before coming in. She was shortly followed by the rest of our family who rushed in. They kept us there till 12:00 in the night before they let us go back to the Hilton. it was an enthralling experience. We were all were safe but we lost something that night: Mom’s shoe. On was lying in the town center and one on the 4th floor of the hotel.
