Brussels
Boy was it a long night. After getting up at 9 we took it easy and left the hotel at around lazy 12 noon. We were going for the city tour with the hop on hop off which is recommended to see the highlights of the city. One thing on the bus that annoyed me was the music they played instead of information and how the informant kept getting cut off because of something.
Going into town we saw skyscrapers dedicated to The World Trade Centre and office buildings and parks filled with people. We took a direct route to the Atomium, the biggest structure in Brussels. Made to represent an iron atom, it stands magnified and is the heart of Brussels. It was made as an iron atom to contribute to the iron industry which were booming at the time. Made with aluminum it had 9 spheres, eight of which are suspended from the ground by tube like structures from which tourists can make their way around the spheres. The view from the top was amazing as you can see Brussels from the best angle.
Two buildings I wanted to see were the building of the European Union and the headquarters of NATO. We saw the EU building which was huge! It took a lot of time to be built and more time for renovation.
On the way back we stopped at the comic square where there were museums about the famous comics of Belgium : Tintin, Astrix and Obelix and many more of my favorite comics.
With everyone tired we returned to the hotel for some awaited rest.
